Luministische Schule von Sitges / L’Escola lluminista de Sitges
The Luminist School of Sitges refers to a group of painters who settled in the Catalan coastal town of Sitges between 1878 and 1892, and is considered an important precursor of Catalan Modernism. The landscape, the streets, the beaches, the vineyards and the inhabitants of Sitges became the protagonists of the luminist pictorial works. Characteristic of L'Escola lluminista de Sitges are the atmospheric effects and especially the successful capture of the effects of light.
