Philippe Halsman (American, 1906-1979) Caligula (15 works), 1960s Gelatin silver prints 11 x 14 inches (27.9 x 35.6 cm) (sheets) and smaller Each with photographer's copyright stamp, and each titled and dated in pencil, verso. Property from the Estate of Lewis Lehr Written by Albert Camus, the premiere Broadway production of Caligula opened to much anticipation at the 54th Street Theatre on February 16th , 1960. It was directed by Sidney Lumet and stared Kenneth Haigh, Colleen Dewhurst, Philip Bourneuf and Edward Binns. Caligula was Camus' earliest play and the first United States production of any of his works but it was a critical disappointment and closed after only 38 performances. Overall very good condition Some sheets are trimmed unevenly in diagonal shapes, photographer's copyright stamps are still visible or partially visible. Edge chipping and bumps to the corners. Sheets are all loose, not framed.
