- Detailed work in particularly beautiful colors from Cretius' creative period in Rome. - The intimate depictions of women are reminiscent of works by the French painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres (1780-1867). - In addition to his work as a genre-, history-, and portrait painter, Cretius was a full member of the Berlin Academy. - After receiving the “Grand State Prize” of the Prussian Academy of Arts in 1838, he embarked on a three-year study trip to Southern Europe.
