- The Frankfurt years (1915-1937) are regarded an important creative period: Beckmann found his characteristic style in the metropolis on the Main. - In the 1920s, the "Eiserne Steg", a bridge built over the Main in Frankfurt in 1869, inspired Beckmann twice: In addition to "Stadtansicht mit Eisernem Steg", he also made the famous cityscape "Große Brücke" (1922, Hofmaier 243). - Rare.
