In 1955 the group 11 was founded in Stuttgart. The former students of the Stuttgart Art Academy formed the artist initiative to realize joint exhibitions. Stylistically, they oriented themselves to the internationally widespread currents of Action Painting and Informel at that time. Joint exhibitions took place in several German cities as well as in Rome, London and Brussels.
