Group Normal

The artist group Normal, founded in 1979, was made up of three graduates of the Düsseldorf Art Academy who had studied together under Joseph Beuys and Gerhard Richter. After their studies, the artists turned away from conceptual art and devoted themselves to figurative painting. In doing so, they took an explicitly anti-avant-garde position. After the dissolution of the artist group in 1980, the painters Peter Angermann, Jan Knap, and Milan Kunc established themselves on the art market as successful solo artists.
