Jeune Peinture Belge

The Belgian artists' association Jeune Peinture Belge ("Young Belgian Painting") was founded in Brussels in 1945. The stylistically heterogeneous artists did not pursue a common programme. However, they were united by the pursuit of expressive abstract art in the style of the Nouvelle École de Paris and the main goal of raising the reputation of contemporary Belgian art outside the country's borders and exhibiting it throughout Europe.
