COBRA

In 1948, artists from the cities of Copenhagen, Brussels and Amsterdam joined together as COBRA, from which the name of the most important Informel artists' association is derived. The members were united by a conception of art that turned against the established academic ideas and at the same time formed an antithesis to Surrealism, as well as to the strict artistic rules of Constructivism or geometric abstraction.
