Minimal Art

Minimal Art or Minimalism emerged as a reaction to the subjectivity of Abstract Expressionism after 1960, especially in the USA and England. The aim was a reduction to simple basic forms and the objectively contentless. Characteristic of minimalist art are a simplified, geometric language of form, a clearly recognisable scheme, industrial materials (in sculpture), or serial repetitions of individual segments.
