Orphism / Orphic Cubism

Orphism refers to a non-figurative colouristic variation of Cubism, which is particularly characterised by the preoccupation with simultaneous colour contrasts and light effects. The term Orphism was coined by the French poet Guillaume Apollinaire (1880-1918) in view of the colour-intensive paintings of Robert Delaunay (1885-1941).
