In 1952, eight Italian painters formed the artist group Gruppo degli Otto, which is classified as informal art. At the beginning, cubist and geometric-abstract tendencies were predominant in their works, but later the painters increasingly concentrated on the art concept of Informel and Tachism, although the geometric heritage also reappeared from time to time within the gestural painting process.
