Arts and Crafts Movement

Arts and Crafts was an architecture and design movement launched by William Morris in 1861 that aimed to improve the quality of design and make it accessible to the widest possible audience. As aesthetically pleasing design in the fields of arts and crafts and interior design was increasingly lost under industrialisation, the movement strove to elevate simple, functional design without excessive ornamentation to the level of art.
