Red-Blue

The Basel artists' association Rot-Blau was founded at the turn of the year 1924/1925, modelled on the Dresden artists' group Die Brücke. The trigger for the formation of the young artists is considered to be the stylistic conflict with the older generation of painters and the desire for more exhibition and sales opportunities. The group's great role model was the German Expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, who significantly influenced the Red-Blue painters in their style.
