Art Informel

Art Informel is an umbrella term for various abstract art movements that developed in Europe from the 1940s onwards as an antithesis to geometric abstraction. Works of informal art are understood as spontaneous documentations of unreflective ideas without any form of pictorial planning. The works therefore do not arise from considered composition, but are materialised gestures of artistic expression that arise from spontaneous movements.
