Nouveau Réalisme / New Realism / Neo-Dada

Nouveau Réalisme is an umbrella term for an art movement of the 1960s and early 1970s that revived the ideas of Dadaism in many aspects, which is why it is often referred to as Neo-Dada in this context. As a reaction to the abstract, gestural tendencies in the art of Informel, Tachism or Action Painting, the artists of Nouveau Réalisme focused again on real reality and demanded a new approach to perception. Within the framework of popular techniques such as assemblage and object collage, everyday objects were once again integrated into works of art in Nouveau Réalisme.
