Pointilism / Neo-Impressionism / Divisionism

This style of painting, which originated in France, continued the intention of Impressionism. In Pointilism, pure, unmixed colour is juxtaposed in the form of small dabs in a mosaic-like manner and this is only supposed to mix on the retina in the eye of the beholder. Lines are dispensed with; the rhythmic condensation of the dabs of colour creates the colour boundaries.
