In the period from about 1500 to 1530, the Renaissance reached its peak, known today as the High Renaissance. During this period, the three most famous artists of the time - Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael - created works of art of the highest order, which in the following centuries were considered touchstones of perfection and the fulfilment of all artistic ideals. In the High Renaissance, the scientificisation of the pictorial space begins and the literal translation of the term Renaissance ("rebirth") refers to the values, as well as the artistic guidelines of antiquity.
