Superflat

The Japanese Superflat movement is a unique fusion of the pop culture phenomena of anime and manga with the aesthetics of traditional Japanese painting. The name and origin of Superflat can be traced back to Takashi Murakami (*1962), who launched a distinctive Japanese version of Pop Art by turning the aesthetics of popular culture into art and successfully establishing it in the art world through an exhibition of the same name.
