Dresden Secession Group 1919

In January 1919, the Dresden Secession Group 1919, an artists' association of German Expressionism, developed from a discussion group for the exchange of ideas about art and current politics. With the principle "Truth - Brotherhood - Art," the group belonged to those revolutionary artistic alliances that also wanted to have a political effect. The group consisted of progressive-minded artists, in whose works wild painting full of ecstasy, full of radicalism was expressed and who wanted to walk together on a new path into the future. Stylistically, their artistic work was linked to the expressionist visual language of the pre-war Brücke painters, which is why they are often considered second-generation expressionists.
