After Herman Saftleven II (Dutch, 1609-1685) Weinlese (Gathering grapes) Pencil on laid paper 3-3/4 x 5-1/8 inches (9.5 x 13.0 cm) (sheet) Inscribed lower left: HSL Property from the William A. Glaser Collection PROVENANCE: Galerie Meissner, Zurich, by 1958; Christie's, New York, January 11, 1989, lot 172; Acquired by the present owner from the above. In a letter to William Glaser dated May 28, 1998, Saftleven scholar Dr. Wolfgang Schulz gave his opinion that the drawing was done in the 18th century and was likely a copy of a detail from one of Saftleven's bustling Rhenish landscapes.
