Condition
Vivian Maier (American, 1926-2009) Mid Conversation, circa 1950s Gelatin silver print 12-5/8 x 10-1/2 inches (32.1 x 26.7 cm) (image/sheet) From the Ron Slattery collection Mid Conversation is a daring image that uses the camera to insert the viewer within the beginning of a street confrontation between two women. It is also a rare example of her printed large format photography. Fewer than 300 exhibition sized prints such as this are known to exist, and they stand as powerful evidence of her artistry. While it's estimated that Vivian Maier took upwards of 100,000 photos, the vast majority of her work surfaced as negatives; Maier rarely printed her work. Overall very good condition. A few scattered hard creasing toward the edges of the sheet. A few small areas of retouching and some edge chipping. Sheet is loose, not framed.
