Lot Details
Silkscreen in colors. Signed and numbered. One of 30 Trial Proofs. On Lenox Museum card. 100 x 80 cm.
With the copyright stamp “Andy Warhol 1985” on the reverse. Printed by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York (with blind stamp). Published by George C. P. Mulder, Amsterdam. [AR].
- From the “Reigning Queens” portfolio. - The royal Danish queen becomes a pop star in Andy Warhol's legendary screen prints. - Unique character due to individual coloring.
LITERATURE: Cf. Frayda Feldman, Jörg Schellmann, Claudia Defendi, Andy Warhol Prints. A catalogue raisonné 1962-1987, New York 2003, no. IIB. 342-345.
Galerie Benden and Klimczak, Viersen (today Galerie Benden & Ackermann, Cologne). Private collection, Lower Saxony
In good condition. The lower right corner is slightly scuffed. There are faint signs of wear on the turquoise, only visible in glancing light. There is a tiny dark mark under the eye and to the right of the ear, probably caused during production. The print image on the gold background is slightly irregular, but this is also probably due to the production process.
