Oil on cardboard , laminated on board.
Kraker 515. Bottom left signed and dated, presumably by a hand other than that of the artist. With the monogram in ligature in red pen, the number "41" and the insription "fette schwache Damarisolierung 12.31" on the reverse. 58.5 x 54 cm.
The painting is registered under number 41 in the artist's hand-written work list in the Archive Arlbert Birkle. [AM].
- Striking portrait of the art trader Victor Hartberg. Birkle had his first exhibition at the Berlin gallery in 1932. - Depiction in the artist's characteristic immediacy. - Birkle's works from the 1920s are the most-sought after ones on the international auction market (sourcee: artprice.com).

Good overall impression. Edges with spots of material and color loss. Varnish partly unevenly discolored. Margins with isolated, skillfully retouched spots and two tiny spots of color loss in the image. Signature and date belatedly added by a hand other thna that of the artist. The condition report was compiled in daylight with the help of an ultraviolet light and to the best of knowledge.
