Kenny Scharf rose to success alongside artists Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring during his participation in New York City's East Village during the 1980s. His do-it-yourself practice spanned painting, sculpture, fashion, video, performance art, and street art. In Object to Enjoy, Scharf's stylized use of bright colors, gestural lines, and cartoonlike features reflects his techniques as a street artist creating an alien creature out of a functional vase form.
