- Lüpertz is one of the most important German artists of the New Figuration. - In the mid-1980s, Lüpertz explored the boundary between figuration and abstraction in his work. - Lüpertz's " Die Vision der Veronika" masterfully merges motifs from the legend with a cubist formal language that dissolves into abstraction. - A brilliant play with art-historical tradition and the joy of association. - Markus Lüpertz' paintings are in numerous important collections, among them the Lousiana Museum of Modern Art, Humlebæk, the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.
