Condition
Some dated and inscribed in pencil, verso.
Vivian Maier (American, 1926-2009) Summer Landscapes (40 works), 1950-1951 Gelatin silver prints 2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches (6.4 x 8.9 cm) (sheets) Some dated and inscribed in pencil, verso. From the Ron Slattery collection The photographs here, taken on Vivian Maier's 1950 travels abroad to the rural French village from where her family emigrated to America and the surrounding region, are her earliest known work. Already they show her dedication to her craft and her quickly growing confidence behind the camera. According to biographer Pamela Bannos, Maier was so insistent with her camera that some people in her family's French village thought she might be a spy, and she ended up being questioned by the police about her photography. Overall excellent condition. Some sheets with mild toning. A few sheets with soft creasing, but mostly localized to the margins. Sheets are loose, not framed.
