- Alviani is one of the most important Italian representatives of Op Art and kinetic art. - He made polished aluminum surfaces and their dynamic interplay with light and surface his characteristic medium. - In the 1960s, he was in close contact with avant-garde artists such as Piero Manzoni and Lucio Fontana, who developed new pictorial concepts. - In 1964 he took part in the Venice Biennale and in 1968 in documenta 4 in Kassel. - Alviani's works can be found in important collections such as the Galleria nazionale d'arte moderna e contemporanea, Rome, the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Vienna, the ZKM Museum für Neue Kunst, Karlsruhe, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles.
